Big fundraiser: Christmas in a shoebox for needy children!

In the run-up to Christmas, things get particularly contemplative in Donauwörth and the surrounding area. Many people turn shoeboxes into beautiful gift boxes for children in need. This “Christmas in a Shoebox” campaign is very popular and is run by the Christian aid organization Samaritan's Purse organized. The initiative has existed since 1996 and has since warmed countless hearts by distributing healthy and lovingly wrapped gifts.

The gift packages are full of everything that makes children happy - from toys and hygiene products to school supplies and warm clothing. These lovingly put together boxes mainly go to Eastern European countries and bring bright children's eyes who are waiting to enjoy these surprises.

This is how the tax works

There are numerous drop-off points in the Donau-Ries district for anyone who wants to support a relief effort. This year, National Submission Week runs fromNovember 10th to 17th. If you would like to take part, you will find the following acceptance points in Donauwörth:

  • Kaufland
  • Kaufhaus Woha
  • Gospelhouse
  • Michaela Groß
  • Riedlingen

But friendly helpers are also waiting for the packages in other communities such as Kaisheim, Wemding or Nördlingen. A comprehensive list of acceptance points is available on the website Augsburger Allgemeine to find.

What is needed?

If you're wondering what goes into the boxes, you're in for a treat: things you're looking for include toothbrushes, toothpaste, towels, cuddly toys and toy cars. The exact list of desired donations includes many little things that put a smile on children's faces.

For more information or questions, Michaela Groß is available on 0906/9998790. And don't worry: the packages are checked before shipping to ensure that the children only receive nice gifts.

In this context, Christmas shines particularly brightly. The contemplative time is not just an occasion to meet up with family and friends. Christmas markets and traditions, such as putting up the Christmas tree or celebrating Christmas Eve, also play a central role in this festive period. Not only do we celebrate the arrival of the Christ child, but we also experience being together in communities and the joy of giving gifts. It is the best time to bring joy to others and experience true happiness yourself.

The participants in the campaign, including families, schools and church communities, have a good knack for giving children a happy Christmas. Because nothing is nicer than children's laughter at Christmas time, and with a little commitment everyone can contribute!
