On Monday, the stage was once again opened in the Landau town hall for the awarding of very special talents. District Administrator Werner Bumeder awarded the cultural awards for 2024, and as always, the event was festive and full of musical performances and lively conversations. The winners stood out not only for their achievements, but also for their passion for music. The Blues Brothers tribute band “Blues Briederchen” was awarded the culture prize. This unique band has made a name for itself since its founding in 2004 and has donated more than 60,000 euros to charitable causes. In a laudatory speech by the cabaret artists Eva Petzenhauser and Tom Bauer, the importance of their handmade music was acknowledged, and a large benefit concert has already been announced for the future, like this Passauer Neue Presse reported.
Award winners in the spotlight
Rudi Scharl, who was awarded the Cultural Promotion Prize, is a true veteran of the regional choir scene. His musical training began in the Passau Cathedral Choir and continued through various choirs to his current role in several ensembles, including the Peigener Chor and the Jagdhornbläser Landau. Therese Wagner gave the laudatory speech for him and highlighted his contributions to choral singing. Scharl himself has also shown great commitment to the region's music scene and has already received several awards, such as the Badge of Honor from the Bavarian Prime Minister.
The Youth Culture Prize went to the 20-year-old musician Florian Wagner, who is not only active as a pianist and singer, but also works as a music teacher. Barbara Steininger, who delivered his eulogy, outlined his musical talent and noted his impressive reach on social media, where he has over 4,000 followers. His repertoire ranges from classical to pop and therefore offers a wide range of performances.
Special honors and musical accompaniment
The celebratory award ceremony was accompanied by a musical setting by the award winners and additionally by hunting horn players. Well-known faces in the region, such as Manuela Wälischmiller and Matthias Kohlmayer, also took the opportunity to convey their congratulations in the form of personal congratulations. The prize money totaling 3,000 euros for the Culture Prize, 1,500 euros for the Culture Promotion Prize and 750 euros for the Youth Culture Prize comes in part from the Cultural Foundation of Sparkasse Niederbayern-Mitte, which plays a key role in financing the evening.
This tradition of presenting cultural awards in the Dingolfing-Landau district, which now looks back on 35 years, not only brings the achievements of individual artists into the spotlight, but also promotes cultural diversity and social coexistence in the region.
