AOK health report: Back pain and high blood pressure in focus!

On August 14, 2025, representatives of AOK Bayern handed over the current health report to District Administrator Werner Bumeder for the Dingolfing-Landau district. This report provides valuable insights into the health situation of the population and serves as a basis for future prevention and health promotion offers. District Administrator Bumeder emphasized how important this analysis is in order to better assess the need for health promotion and to develop appropriate programs. The AOK supports the district with initiatives such as the “Healthy Community” program and a number of prevention projects.

The numbers in the report show some interesting developments. In 2023, 35.0% of AOK insured people in the district sought medical help for back pain - a slight decrease compared to 37.7% five years ago. The rates for high blood pressure and depression have also remained largely stable. Of AOK insured people aged 20 and over, 27.5% are affected by high blood pressure, while 11.2% were treated for depression. These values are within the Bavarian average and show that the health challenges in our region are not unique.

Prevention measures and information

A prevention project that is particularly worth mentioning is the AOK's latest installation in the Steinberg outdoor pool: a UV index board that shows the current daily maximum value of UV radiation. The aim of this measure is to protect the population from the dangers of high UV exposure, such as skin or eye damage. The board also provides information about recommended sun protection measures and raises awareness among the population about how to use solar radiation responsibly.

“It is important that we offer our citizens help to stay healthy,” says Bumeder. The integration of such projects shows the district's commitment to actively promoting the health of its residents.

Another aspect that is also receiving attention today is the topic of memory and loss, which we can take up through the new game “Mirror of Loss”. This campaign element allows a character to sacrifice memories to grant bonuses to their abilities - although not without some cost or temporary penalty. The game shows how memories play an important role not only in reality, but also in virtual space.

In summary, it can be said that the Dingolfing-Landau district is on the right track with targeted programs and active health promotion. Today's handover of the health report to District Administrator Bumeder is another step in the right direction to sustainably improve the quality of life in the region. If you would like to find out more about the programs and offers, you can find further information about AOK Bayern and Mirror of Loss on the AOK website, which addresses the importance of memories in its own way. Be it in real life or in the game, our health is important to all of us.
