Experience art and culture: Long Open Doors Night in Dachau!
In a few days it will be that time again: Dachau will open its doors with the 19th “Long Night of Open Doors” on Friday, September 19th, from 7 p.m. to midnight. On this evening, 31 museums, galleries, studios and workshops will be transformed into a lively art and cultural space. Whether famous painting galleries or charming small workshops, the evening has something to offer for everyone. Here you can discover the city in a whole new way and experience the creative treasures that Dachau has to offer. As the South German newspaper reported, the evening will be supplemented by various special programs.
A highlight of the event is the exhibition in the Picture gallery, which is entitled “Blick.Point. What looks tell”. Here visitors can explore the narrative power of works of art. It also offers District Museum a fascinating exhibition called “The World at Play” that shows board games from 200 years.
Supporting program and special tours
The organizers have put together an extensive supporting program for real explorers. In addition to the regular exhibitions, there are half-hour special tours in both museums. A tour of the board game exhibition will take place in the district museum at 8 p.m., while the tour “BLICK.PUNKT. What looks tell” will take place in the picture gallery at 9 p.m. These personal insights into the works are a wonderful opportunity to broaden your own perspective.
The City of Dachau invites everyone interested in culture to music and games in the district museum. In the picture gallery there will also be light projections, a photo station and an information stand, which will further enrich the evening. Here you can roam the city with the whole family and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere that puts art in the right light.
Art auction and previews
The big art auction that takes place on Sunday, September 21st in the water tower is particularly exciting. In the Dachau water tower 140 works of art can be viewed and the first bids can be made on Friday, September 19th between 7 p.m. and midnight.
