Busy Christmas week: Fire brigade rescues, accidents and fires!
Christmas week 2025 was extremely eventful for the fire departments in Bavaria. The Cham district fire brigade association reported about a large number of such operations that kept the emergency services on their toes.
The operational week began on Monday, December 22nd with a traffic accident in Roding at 10:25 a.m., which was classified as technical assistance (THL 1). Just a few hours later, at 3:14 p.m., the firefighters in Cham had to go to an emergency apartment opening (THL P). A traffic accident in Furth im Wald followed at 4:49 p.m., also a THL 1 mission.
Fire hazard and apartment openings

Fortunately, the flames were prevented from spreading to the adjacent stable. The day ended with another traffic accident on the B16 near Muckenbach, in which one person was trapped (THL 3).
On Wednesday, December 24th, there were a number of calls due to fallen trees on the roadways. Between 4:47 a.m. and 11:35 p.m. the firefighters were on duty at various locations such as Biberbach, Reichenbach and Haderstadl. Several fire alarm systems were triggered that day and the fire brigade had to go out to emergency apartment openings (THL P) several times, including in Waffenbrunn. A chimney fire in Schwarzach also required quick action from the fire department.
The following holiday, December 25th, began with further operations, where the emergency services were called upon at Treffelstein and Warzenried and a rescue service operation also took place in Rötz.
Friday, December 26th, was no quieter either. The firefighters were needed in Michelsdorf, Walderbach and Bad Kötzting, where, among other things, acute apartment openings were carried out. An indefinable smell was reported in Falkenstein, which led to the categorization as an ABC 1 operation.
Heat of the operational weeks
Saturday, December 27th, continued to be busy. At 12:15 a.m. a triggered fire alarm alerted the emergency services in Cham, while in the afternoon a car fire in Cham led to a B2 operation. Here too, attention was paid to acute housing openings in Altenmarkt and Neukirchen b. HL. Blood was required.
The last day of Christmas week, Sunday, December 28th, showed that the emergency services did not get any rest even on the holiday. At 10:20 a.m. an urgent apartment opening in Bad Kötzting was necessary, and at 12:34 p.m. the firefighters supported the rescue service in Falkenstein.
Overall, the fire departments in the region can look back on an intensive week that included over 100 missions. Particularly noticeable are the many apartment openings that were necessary this week either by chance or by necessity. The Traunstein district fire brigade association recorded In a comparable week, 39 operations were carried out, including several apartment openings and fire reports.
The challenge that the emergency services mastered was also documented by the need to avert danger of all kinds.
