Munich: 21 -year -old arrested - fraudulent cryptocurrency robbery!

A 21-year-old German has been in custody since the end of June 2025, after being accused of having betrayed a 48-year-old from Munich to have cheated cryptocurrencies worth around EUR 13,000. The Munich native filed a complaint in October 2024 after she was called by an alleged employee of a trading platform, who informed her about unauthorized access to her account. In naive security, she transferred Bitcoins to a specified wallet - only to determine a day later that her entire amount had disappeared.

The cybercrime specialists of the Munich criminal police quickly identified the 21-year-old as suspects and found him in Bochum. According to an arrest warrant from Bamberg, he was arrested on June 26, 2025 without resistance, and the officials also found extensive evidence. Notes indicate that the accused could be responsible for at least 57 further fraud cases in which he spent out as a bank employee and caused damage of around EUR 150,000. The investigation due to commercial fraud is on.
