Planegg, Deutschland - A serious accident shook Richard-Wagner-Straße in Munich on Tuesday, June 17, 2025! At around 4:40 p.m., a 65-year-old Pedelec driver collided with the door of a parked smart car when the 58-year-old driver wanted to get out. The impact was violent! The cyclist was injured and the emergency services immediately took him to the hospital. A considerable property damage of several thousand euros was incurred for both vehicles.

The Munich traffic police have started the investigation into this serious incident and urges all drivers: Before you open the door, be sure to look into the circulation! A sudden door opener can have dramatic consequences for cyclists and other road users. The so-called Dutch handle, the door open with the right hand, ensures a better overview-a simple but effective tip for more safety in road traffic!
