What are signatures of support?

The signatures of support collected are a crucial part of the electoral process in Germany. They are necessary so that parties and candidates can take part in elections. Loud Wikipedia These signatures must be collected from people entitled to vote and must be made on special official forms. In small communities, the residents' registration office checks the validity of the signatures, while in larger cities the statistical office or the electoral office is responsible for this.

At least 200 signatures are required to take part in a district council election. In federal elections, parties that are not continuously represented by at least five MPs must also collect support signatures. Typically, every eligible citizen only has to support one state list and one district election proposal in order to avoid manipulation and unfair competition.

The upcoming elections are not only an opportunity for citizens to cast their vote, but also an important signal for the political actors in Berchtesgadener Land. It will be exciting to see how the discussions develop in the coming weeks!
