Partial closure of the Bayreuth High Bridge: diversions from Thursday!
An important traffic announcement for all Bayreuth residents and travelers is announced in the coming week: The Bayreuth High Bridge will be partially closed on Thursday, June 19, 2025. This measure will take place between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. in order to set up an additional construction site entrance and carry out necessary maintenance work on traffic routing. Road users should prepare for a detour, as traffic entering the city will be diverted, while traffic heading out of the city can continue in a narrowed lane. In order not to get stuck in a traffic jam, it is recommended to follow the signposted diversion route, which leads via Bindlacher Allee, Bindlacher Straße and Weiherstraße to the St. Georgen West industrial area, like the one courier reported.
But this is not the only construction site in the Bayreuth area. The A9 will also be affected by traffic disruptions. On Saturday, May 10th, extensive work will be carried out here, which will require a complete closure in the area of the Bayreuth-Nord junction. From around 2 p.m. there will be a narrowing to one lane in the direction of Nuremberg, whereby exit via AS Bayreuth-Nord will not be possible. In the direction of Berlin, the exit remains open until 8 p.m., but only in one lane. This measure, as the city of Bayreuth explains in detail, will enable the installation of the laterally supported steel superstructure for the new ramp structure of the high bridge. To improve traffic flow, a diversion route has been set up via the A70, A73, A6 and A93, which will be signposted accordingly so that disruption can be minimised.
Keep an eye on the traffic situation
Anyone who thinks this is all a bit much is not alone. However, users can get an overview of the current traffic situation on German motorways with an interactive dashboard. The Highway regularly provides information about the longest traffic jams, the number of construction sites and other disruptions. Thanks to continuous monitoring, unforeseeable disruptions are dealt with quickly so that travelers can stay well informed on the roads. Corridor strategies can then also be implemented immediately to direct traffic flows in the best possible way.
Overall, a little patience will be required from all road users, be it on city streets or on the highway. It remains to be hoped that the construction work will progress quickly so that the people of Bayreuth can go about their journey unhindered again.
