Young people shine: Honor for outstanding achievements in Bayreuth!

On October 9, 2025, it was that time again: Almost 300 young talents from Bayreuth and the surrounding area were honored for their impressive achievements at regional, state and federal levels. The ceremonial event took place in the ballroom and was led by Mayor Thomas Ebersberger and District Administrator Florian Wiedemann. Both presented the young people with certificates and small gifts honoring their extraordinary successes in science, entertainment and in craft and business training.

The atmosphere in the ballroom was consistently festive, with a varied show program that kept the guests well entertained. The performances by Erik Seemann (marimba), Karolin Schamel (violin), Ilian Zdralek (oboe) and Martin Müller (piano) caused great applause. In addition, the dance groups Flowin' Steps and Rhythm Company amazed the audience, while Eva Herzing caused laughter with her entertaining speech.

Variety of competitions

The awards from this event are part of a larger framework that motivates young people in Germany to discover and show their talents. Competitions, which reach over 900,000 children and young people every year, promote learning in a variety of areas, from STEM to social sciences to culture and languages. The BMBF reports that all young people, regardless of their previous knowledge, can take part in these competitions and thus have the opportunity to develop creative solutions and innovative ideas. In competitions such as “Jugend forscht”, the “Federal Mathematics Competition” or the “Federal Computer Science Competition”, participants have numerous opportunities to put their knowledge to the test.

The MINT competitions make it clear that engagement in the natural sciences and technology is particularly encouraged. The “Federal Environmental Competition,” for example, is aimed at environmentally conscious young people between the ages of 10 and 20 and motivates them to engage with ecological issues. The competitions are also diverse in the area of languages and art: the “Federal Foreign Languages Competition” and the “Federal Youth Composers Competition” invite creative young minds to show off their skills and talents.

A step into the future

Participation in such competitions not only offers the chance to prove yourself, but also to make valuable contacts and make friends that go beyond national borders. In addition, participation is often the first step into a promising career. Just as the acting students experience at the “National Competition for German-Speaking Acting Students”, young people can shape their future in a wide variety of areas and gain valuable experience.

For the young people from Bayreuth who were honored today, this evening was a further impetus to pursue their dreams and take risks. The appreciation that they were shown clearly shows that the city and the district support their commitment. The support of politicians and the enthusiasm of the general public motivates us to continue to achieve great things and to express our creativity in new projects.

This festive occasion will be remembered as a milestone for young people and as a sign that education and commitment deserve the highest regard. It remains to be hoped that many young people will continue to take advantage of the opportunity to assert themselves in the various competitions and let their talents shine.
