FDP fails: Too few signatures for local elections in Tölz!
The local elections in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district cast their shadows ahead, but the FDP has to suffer a setback. The district association has failed to collect the required supporter signatures for the upcoming election, which seriously jeopardizes the start of an election campaign that would have a decisive influence on the party's future in the district. In order to run for the district council election on March 8th, 385 signatures were necessary; Ultimately only 145 came together.
The picture becomes even bleaker when you take a look at the local council election in Lenggries. Here the FDP even needed 180 signatures, but only managed a paltry 19. Simon Roloff, the district chairman and top candidate of the FDP, is disappointed and describes the failure as “more than disappointing”. His words are urgent because trust in the support of the population has apparently not grown.
Causes of failure
Roloff emphasizes that the FDP actively sought signatures. However, many passers-by were not willing to go to the town hall to give their support. The signature is a prerequisite for participation in the election, but the hurdles in finding supporters appear to be large. The requirements for citizens are clear: signatures of support must be provided in person, which is a hurdle for many. Loud Federal Returning Officer This requires handwritten signatures from at least 200 eligible voters in the constituency.
Time was short, as the deadline for collecting signatures ran from January 19, 2026 until the candidates were nominated, a process that requires not only organizational skills but also strong local ties. Roloff is therefore calling for a change in the admission requirements and expresses his hope that digital signatures will be made possible to make the whole thing easier.
Competition never sleeps
Despite these setbacks, the FDP is not alone on the sidelines. Other groups in the southern district have successfully overcome the hurdles. Lists such as the Bad Heilbrunn Citizens' Association and the Independent Electorate in Sachsenkam were able to successfully collect their support signatures. The ÖDP in Kochel and the “Schlehdorf miteinand” group should also be mentioned here, as they secured the necessary support for participation in the election.
Although the political future of the FDP in the district is not good, Simon Roloff remains optimistic. “Despite the current challenges, we will continue to be present on site,” he assures. The desire to bring new ideas to the district council as a fresh mind remains unbroken. It will be interesting to see how the situation will develop further.
