Discover Bad Kissingen's history: bike tour through a UNESCO world heritage site!
The charming spa town of Bad Kissingen has organized a special event today, July 5, 2025: an exciting bicycle tour that will introduce participants to the fascinating facets of this UNESCO World Heritage site. On the tour, participants can discover both the beautiful landscapes and the cultural highlights of the region. The city of Bad Kissingen itself is in control and invites cycling enthusiasts to become part of this experience.
The starting point of the bike tour is the picturesque spa garden, where the first guests gather at the bike racks at the Regentenbau at 10:00 a.m. From there we head south, past important supply structures such as the train station and the old slaughterhouse, which played a major role in the development of the spa and its guests. A look at the history of the city and a tour of sacred spaces, such as the Church of the Redeemer, are also on the program.
Route and cultural highlights
The route covers a total of around 10 kilometers, runs largely on flat, easily accessible cycle paths and is suitable for both organic and e-bikes. After visiting the rose garden and the saltworks promenade, the tour ends at the Upper and Lower Saltworks. Here you not only have the opportunity to learn about the history of salt, but also to explore the impressive connection between Bad Kissingen and Otto von Bismarck. Bismarck, who stayed in Bad Kissingen a total of 15 times between 1874 and 1893, left his lasting impression on the city. Its monument, erected in 1877, is a real sight and a reminder of its special role in history. The monument is accessible 24 hours a day, dogs are welcome and entry is free.
A special highlight of the tour is the discussion about the “culture of walking” and the introduction to new sports. After around 90 minutes, which will certainly fly by, the cyclists have the option of following the tour guide again on the way back. There are also special ticket prices for families: adults pay 10 euros, children up to 12 years only pay 5 euros. Entry to the Obere Saline Museum is included in the ticket price and rounds off the offer.
