Augsburg relies on night crew”: Focus on safety in nightlife!
Something is happening in Augsburg with regard to a safe nightlife! The “Night Crew” initiative, which was launched by the coalition of the CSU and the Greens, is intended to ensure that young people in particular feel safer in the city center. Volunteers will be active on weekends to provide support during conflicts and to strengthen the feeling of security. A concept that inspires and that draws on proven models from Erfurt and Vienna, such as fantasy.de reported.
But what is behind this idea? The aim is to promote the safety and well-being of young people in Augsburg's nightlife. The helpers will not only be there in the event of disputes or attacks, but will also work preventatively to avoid violence and unpleasant situations in the first place. Peter Rauscher from the Greens emphasizes that vulnerable groups in particular should benefit from this approach. This shows how important it is to create a safe environment to promote social interaction.
A corresponding concept in development
A comprehensive concept is currently being developed to make the implementation of the “night crew” effective. Various municipal authorities as well as social organizations such as Queerbeet e.V. and of course the young people themselves are involved. The idea is that the night crew should complement existing security measures instead of replacing them. Leo Dietz from the CSU emphasizes that Augsburg is one of the best large cities with its safety standards, but that support is also needed in critical situations. The DAZ Augsburg makes it clear that an important aspect is the perception of the night crew.
One point that is repeatedly emphasized is the legal demarcation of the night crew. Under no circumstances should this act as a “vigilante group”, which is not permitted in Germany. The sovereignty over security-related tasks clearly remains with the police and officially commissioned security forces. This clarification is not only important for the helpers, but also contributes to the trust of the population.
The “Night Crew” project is in the starting blocks. It should not only increase the feeling of security, but also ensure harmonious coexistence in Augsburg's night culture. With the dedicated efforts of volunteers, this concept could enrich all of our nightlife in the city, making Augsburg even more one of the safest and most livable cities in the country. Let's stay tuned to see how the project develops and what support it receives from the population.
