Glass fiber expansion in Pittersberg: 180 new connections until the end of 2025!

A new milestone for the digital infrastructure in the region: the ground ground for fiber optic expansion in Pittersberg and the surrounding area has just been carried out. In a small, solemn ceremony, representatives of the municipality of Ebermannsdorf, the construction company Mih Net Amberg and Glasfaser Direkt GmbH were present. In the coming months, the laying of fiber optic routes will be worked hard, and the goal is ambitious: around 180 new connections are to be made available by the end of 2025. About two thirds of this goes to the account of Glasfaser Direkt GmbH, which drives the project in their own business, while the rest is supported by funding from the Free State of Bavaria. Mittelbayerische reported of a total volume of 737.441 euros this project.

The affected places are Pittersberg, Breitenbrunn, Meierhof, Frauenlohe, Au, Arling, Niederarling and Aufluch. A total of around 30 kilometers are laid on new fiber optic routes, which means real progress in terms of internet speed for many households. Mayor Erich Meidinger (CSU) and his colleagues from the community are happy about the development. This not only creates the digital connection, but also a significant step towards rural digitization.

starting shot for the work

The first construction work begins this week with homes to make the necessary preparations. A total of two construction teams are used for the civil engineering work, which should be completed by the end of September 2025. At an information event in the Pittersberger Schützenheim, the citizens have already given their first insights into the project and the upcoming steps. Glass fiber directly emphasizes that the delays that often occur in broadband expansion in the region can be avoided here so that all deadlines can be adhered to.

The challenge of broadband expansion in Bavaria is great, especially in rural areas, where the topography and the small -scale settlement structure complicate the planning. According to Bavarian State Ministry For digitization, however, over 97 percent of households have already accessed fast internet with at least 30 Mbit/s, and in the near future even over 99 percent of households will be supplied. The Bavarian broadband center in Amberg plays a central role here to coordinate the necessary steps for a smooth expansion and to network the local actors.

With the fiber optic expansion in Pittersberg, the region is now facing a future -proof internet connection, which will significantly improve the digital everyday life of many citizens. It remains exciting to observe how the work develops and when the first households will be ready to follow.
