Camping vacation 2026: These places are the best in Europe!

What are the stars for camping enthusiasts in Europe? A look at the current results of the most important audience award in the European camping industry shows: The campers have voted! Over 120,000 votes from more than 62,000 travelers went into choosing the best campsites, and a Bavarian representative is on the list of top places. The camping portal camping.info presented its annual award and honored 110 outstanding campsites from around 23,000 facilities in 44 countries.

The big highlight right away: First place goes to the Sonnenland Lutzmannsburg campsite in Austria, a real insider tip for families. This place is particularly popular with families and dog lovers as it offers a family atmosphere and extensive leisure activities, including a swimming lake. Camping Park Kühlungsborn in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which was also named the best campsite in Germany, came in second.

  • 3. Luxury Camping Schlosshof (Lana, Italien)

Awards and criteria

But what about the awards? The award is based exclusively on the reviews of campers who have personally experienced the sites. The votes have been collected and weighted over the last five years. The average overall impression and the timeliness of the reviews are taken into account. A campsite can only sneak into the rankings with at least 25 reviews, which strengthens the authenticity and reliability of the rankings Focus reported.

The awards mentioned are not only a confirmation of their work for the operators, but also a particularly valuable signal for the campers who are planning their vacation. Germany and Bavaria in particular are doing everything right in this context, and the high number of excellent places speaks for itself. With 24 campsites in the entire ranking, we are well represented in this country.

A Bavarian site that has made it into the list of the best German campsites is Camping am Pilsensee. It takes 6th place in Germany, while the Demmelhof campsite in Bad Tölz-Stallau comes in 7th place. The Bankenhof in Hinterzarten also stands out and is recognized as the best campsite in Baden-Württemberg, a place that many campers would like to have.

For everyone who wants to relax in nature and enjoy the beauty of the landscape, the designated places are a real invitation. So, set off on an adventure and pitch your tents where it is most beautiful!
