Funding for the future: Projects in Auerbergland and Pfaffenwinkel!
At the last meeting of the steering committee of the Auerbergland-Pfaffenwinkel Local Action Group (LAG) on July 3, 2025, several projects were approved for LEADER funding. The decision took place in Weilheim and brings a breath of fresh air into the development of the region. As merkur.de reports, the 17-member committee came together to discuss a variety of projects, all of which will now receive financial support.
Elisabeth Gutmann, the managing director of the LAG, confirmed that there are still funds available in the funding pot. It is particularly important to use resources in a targeted manner until 2027, which Veronika Hämmerle, the coordinator of the LEADER program, emphasized. The LEADER program, which has been contributing to the sustainable development of rural areas since 1991, is financed by the European Agricultural Fund (EAFRD) and aims to strengthen quality of life, regional identity and economic development in rural areas.
Diverse projects in focus
The following exciting projects were launched at the most recent meeting:
- WIRschaft in Oberhausen: Ein sozialer Treffpunkt für alle Generationen wird im ehemaligen Bäckergebäude entstehen. Die Gemeinde stellt das Gebäude kostenlos bereit und übernimmt die Sanierung. Die LAG stellt 4.718 Euro zur Verfügung, um Möbel für Angebote wie einer Spielecke, einer Werkstatt und einem Literaturtreff zu finanzieren.
- Eberfinger Multifunktionsplatz: Hier wird ein ungenutzter Hartplatz in einen lebendigen Treffpunkt für Basketball, Inlineskaten und Tennis umgebaut. 4.240 Euro aus LEADER-Mitteln werden für zwei Tore zur Verfügung gestellt. Aktuell läuft zudem ein Crowdfunding auf „gofundme“ für den Zaun sowie weitere Sportgeräte.
- Miniatureisenbahn in Schwabbruck: Eine 250 Meter lange Strecke mit Nachbildungen regionaler Bahnhöfe soll durch den Pfarrgarten verlaufen. Die LAG stellt 5.000 Euro für das Projekt bereit, das auf ehrenamtlicher Basis betrieben wird.
- Waldkindergarten in Rieden: Hier ist eine Jurte als wetterfester Aufenthaltsraum geplant. Das Projekt erhält 5.000 Euro Förderung von der LAG.
- Seniorenlotsen in Schongau: Eine Aktionsgemeinschaft plant die persönliche Beratung älterer Menschen. Erste Schritte werden mit 1.491 Euro unterstützt.
These projects show how diverse the funding is and how committed the communities are to improving their quality of life.
Strengthening community and nature
In addition, the LAG also decided to support three new LEADER projects that focus on strengthening nature, encounters and culture. The Nature & Tradition adventure trail in the new Peißenberg mine dump will receive 17,700 euros for the implementation of a trail with interactive stations. An inclusive play and meeting place in Bernried will be funded with 50,450 euros, while the planning of an art project along the MuSeenLandschaft will be supported with 31,500 euros.
The next meeting of the LAG Steering Committee will take place in November 2025. Projects are being discussed again and there is a call for submission of new ideas to increase the region's attractiveness. In this way, development stays alive and something happens “in the country”, as the saying goes.
