Spamalot: Last chance for the cult musical in Upper Palatinate!
Ready, set, go! The OVIGO Theater will bring the third and final season of Monty Python’s Spamalot to the Upper Palatinate in January 2026. Preparations are already in full swing as the popular comedy attracts crowds of viewers. So far, over 6,000 visitors have been counted and the theater makers are confident that they will reach the goal of 10,000 spectators. It is therefore important to continue the positive developments of recent years.
For everyone who hasn't experienced the spectacle yet: Spamalot is based on the legendary film “The Knights of the Coconut”, which has already made many people laugh. The performances combine well-known scenes and songs from the film, including the timeless hit “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.” This mix of humor and music ensures that the audience is guaranteed to get their money's worth.
Premiere and tour dates
The tour starts on January 17th and 18th, 2026 in the Stadthalle Neustadt/WN. The dates are already in high demand:
- 17. Januar 2026, 20:00 Uhr
- 18. Januar 2026, 19:00 Uhr
- 28. Februar 2026, 20:00 Uhr – Karl-Diehl-Halle Röthenbach/Pegnitz
- 28. und 29. März 2026 – Kurhaus Bad Abbach
- 18. April 2026, 20:00 Uhr – Kettelerhaus Tirschenreuth
Director Florian Wein raves about the performances so far: “The last season was a complete success, the audience was enthusiastic, and the open-air performances in Nabburg and Grafenwöhr were a special highlight.” The premiere took place in October 2024 in the Schwarzachtalhalle Neunburg vorm Wald, where several performances were even sold out.
A strong team
Around 50 people are involved in the production of Spamalot. This includes not only actors and musicians, but also technicians, set and costume designers. Michael Zanner will take the stage as King Arthur, while the live band will be led by Andreas Lehmann. The choreographies are by Melanie Old and the stage and costume design was designed by the talented Magdalena Wimmer.
Tickets are already available now and cost between 12 and 21 euros. Discounts for groups, students and people with disabilities are also available. Anyone interested in the performances can find all information and tickets on the OVIGO Theater website.
The musical itself is a tribute to the British comedy troupe Monty Python, who left a lasting impression on the world of humor in the 1970s with their series “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” and films such as “The Knights of the Coconut”. The mix of absurd humor and bizarre characters is still unique today and ensures that Monty Python remains very popular.
So it remains to be seen whether the latest season of Spamalot can captivate viewers again. What is certain is that tickets for the first performances are sold out quickly. If you don't want to miss the fun adventure about King Arthur and the Holy Grail, you should hurry up!
