On Friday, November 7, 2025, Fred Dick was posthumously awarded the City of Straubing's Golden Citizen Medal. This honor, which was unanimously approved by the city council, honors the life's work of a true Straubing original. Fred Dick, known as an artist, social educator, cultural economist and inspirational influencer, has created significant connections between generations and cultures throughout his career.
In his speech, Mayor Markus Pannermayr emphasized the lasting impact on the city through Dick's artistic work. The award not only stands for thanks and appreciation, but also for respect for his commitment to the community. Dick was particularly known for the “Raven” on Rosengasse, a space that promoted music and encounters. He himself preferred to be at the mixing desk rather than in the spotlight.
Honor and exhibition
The exhibition “Freds Finissage” in the Halle II Gallery, which can be seen until December 7th, shows works by the late artist. This initiative is intended to help keep his unique contributions to Straubing's art and culture scene alive.
At a time when cultural connections are becoming increasingly important, Fred Dick's commitment is a shining example. His ability to unite people from different backgrounds and promote interaction will never be forgotten.

Although there are positive developments, the chemical industry faces challenges. Emissions rose here, while other areas such as cement production saw declines of up to 7%.
