85 years of life story: Anna Maria Boßle celebrates in the nursing home

On June 16, 2025, the 85-year-old Anna Maria Boßle, née Meier, was celebrated on a special occasion in the Haus Maxhütte nursing home in Schwandorf. Growing up in Rufenried near Beratzhausen, her life is characterized by challenges and a strong sense of family.

Anna Maria was born into a family with six siblings and had to take on responsibility early on after her mother's early death. Country life had a strong influence on her: she helped in her parents' farm, where everyday life was determined by hard work. However, encounters in the village also had their nice side, such as the wedding in the neighborhood where she met her future husband, Ulrich Boßle. After their marriage, the couple found a new home in Irlaching near Schwandorf and built their life there.

A life full of responsibility and commitment

The celebration in the nursing home was not only an honor for Anna Maria, but also proof of her commitment within the family and community. She dedicated her entire life to the people around her. The close relationship with her siblings and later with her own family circle was always important to her. This strong bond runs through their entire lives and is also valued by the nursing home staff, who report on their positive charisma and courage to face life.

The importance of caring for seniors, as embodied by Anna Maria, is also recognized in science. Historical nursing research shows how important it is to document and preserve the life stories of seniors. The spokesperson for the Care and Society Section, Prof. Dr. Anja Katharina Peters, emphasizes that the understanding of care is not only rooted in the present, but also in history. This affects all generations, not just the current one.

Social contexts and family research

The principle of family research is becoming increasingly important not only in the private sector, but also in scientific debate. Information about family members is often available in archives such as the Federal Archives. Here, people interested in genealogical research can find important documents to understand their own heritage. However, certain applications must be submitted, which research can reveal some hurdles.

The Federal Archives provides researchers with numerous options to gain access to relevant documents. Particularly with regard to the period of the German Empire up to 1945, valuable information about people and their living conditions can be found here. For many, this is a key to better understanding their own history.

As Anna Maria Boßle's life story shows, it is the small and large challenges in life that shape our existence and ensure a strong family and social network. Stories like hers motivate across generations and illustrate how important it is to know and honor the past.

With this in mind, we wish Anna Maria Boßle a happy birthday and hope that she can continue to experience many beautiful moments with her loved ones.
