Intoxicated in danger: cyclist almost falls into the pond in parish church!
An unusual incident occurred in Pfarrkirchen, in the Rottal-Inn district, which called the fire department and the police to the scene. A 65-year-old cyclist fell and threatened to fall into the city pond. Surprisingly, the man was able to hold on to the edge of the weir, preventing an even worse outcome like that PNP reported.
The accident occurred on a gravel path in Ringallee. The cyclist was traveling illegally on the pedestrian path from Rathaus II towards Gartlberg. How the fall occurred is still unclear. But one thing is certain: the man could have easily fallen into the pond if he hadn't had a good hand and held on.
Rescue operation by the fire department
The Pfarrkirchen volunteer fire department was quickly alerted and came to help with a lifeboat. Thanks to their quick intervention, the man was freed from his predicament. Luckily he only sustained minor injuries. However, when the accident was subsequently recorded, the police discovered that the cyclist was under the influence of alcohol. This led to a blood draw and criminal proceedings for drunk driving were initiated.
It shows once again that road safety should be the top priority. Even if the cyclist was lucky, the consequences of alcohol while driving should not be underestimated. In such a case, fun on two wheels can quickly turn into a serious danger.
The local newspapers often report on bizarre and emotional events in everyday life. This is also the case with this incident, which not only points out the dangers, but also their astonishing twists and turns. Stay safe and responsible while traveling!
