Bavarian mayors delight with music at Oktoberfest!
There is hardly an event that conveys the Bavarian lifestyle as well as the Oktoberfest in Munich. This year the spectacle not only has the well-known festival tents and bratwursts on offer, but also musical performances of a very special caliber: the “Bavarian Mayor's Brass Band” showed their skills directly at the traditional costume and rifle parade. This brass troupe has existed for three years and some of the talented mayors from the Rhön-Grabfeld region insisted on taking part in the big parade. Tobias Seufert, the mayor of Mellrichstadt, describes his appearance so far as a real highlight of the festival. According to Mainpost, he appreciates the active role that his colleagues take on in the band and emphasizes the team spirit.
The traditional costume and rifle parade, an absolute highlight in the festival calendar, captivated thousands of spectators. Every year at shortly after 10 a.m. the festive procession begins at the Max II monument, which is located near the Maximilianeum. The route of almost seven kilometers is accompanied by colorful traditional costumes and acrobatic performances, such as the performances of the Munich Moriscan dancers. Musically, the brass band creates the right atmosphere, while the Munich child at the front of the procession delights the audience with a beaming smile. Your physical well-being and a good atmosphere are therefore well taken care of.
Tradition meets community
Another highlight are the magnificently decorated carriages of the major Munich breweries, which complement the train like a real eye-catcher. Mayor Dominik Krause and Mayor Verena Dietl formed a carriage, while the Bavarian Prime Minister Dr. Markus Söder, together with his wife, also took part in the festive procession. The Oktoberfest boss Dr. Christian Scharpf and Wiesn city councilor Anja Berger insisted on being part of this spectacle.
This parade is more than just a traditional costume presentation. Historical dirndls, magnificent lederhosen, fashion from the Biedermeier era and knight's armor show the diversity and depth of Bavarian tradition and culture. Thousands of Bavarian sports shooters and mountain shooters also take part in this parade, which further strengthens the sense of community.
Focusing on Oktoberfest also means experiencing a part of Bavaria and its rich history. The mayors from Rhön-Grabfeld contribute to this with their musical commitment and the maintenance of traditions. Thousands of people from all over Europe are thrilled by the atmosphere and the music that can be heard during the traditional costume and rifle parade and enjoy this unique time in Munich - a celebration of Bavarian identity.
