Dancing for the future: 1,502 euros donated for Regensburg children!

A swinging Saturday in Regensburg! The SG Walhalla sports hall was recently transformed into a real dance palace because Zumba trainer Celestina Wolf invited people to the big dance event. It was the third event of its kind and the enthusiasm was evident. Participants had the opportunity to swing their hips for a total of three hours and do something good at the same time.

In total, an impressive 1,502 euros were collected for the Children's Tree campaign at this lively event - a considerable increase compared to the previous year. Melanie Brunner from the foundation administration proudly accepted the donation check and thanked the numerous participants, some of whom even lasted the entire three hours

A good touch for the well-being of the children

The Kinderbaum campaign has set itself the goal of ensuring that every child in Regensburg receives a gift for Christmas. This initiative was launched in 2012 to support needy children whose families cannot afford gifts. During the campaign, around 350-400 wish lists were hanging on a tree in Regensburg, and managing director of the Regensburg municipal utility, Manfred Koller, said that it was their pleasure to give a piece of happiness to the children who received nothing. This was underpinned by a generous donation of 8,000 euros handed over by Koller and his team, saying that all donations will go directly to children in need.

Dancing for a good cause

The proceeds from the dance event will further strengthen support for the Kinderbaum campaign. Celestina Wolf and her colleagues, including Angelika Seebauer, Thassilo Weiss and Laura Gerxhaliu, thanked the participants and sponsors - including Alnatura, who took care of the catering - for their commitment. New this year was the team from “Die Insel”, who also set up a wheel of fortune to make the day even more entertaining.

The positive influence of such events is obvious. Not only is the community strengthened, but awareness of the needs of children and families in Regensburg is also raised. Next year, numerous dance enthusiasts will come together again to dance for the Kinderbaum campaign.

Parallel to these efforts, another project is taking place in Regensburg that is aimed at children and young people in risk situations: ChanceTanz. This initiative supports local dance projects that are created under professional leadership. Participants have the opportunity to actively participate in the creative process and express themselves through dance. The aim is to offer disadvantaged children and young people educational opportunities and strengthen their social skills despite their challenges. Whether in small groups or across ages, these projects are tailor-made and offer every participant a home on the dance floor.

This means that not only do we dance, but we also do something tangible for the future. The symbiosis ensured that the spirit of optimism was clearly noticeable in Regensburg - and not just on the dance floor!

Further information about the dance event can be found on the [Regensburg] website (https://www.regensburg.de/aktuelles/pressemitigungen/159998/602705/tanzen-fuer-den-guten-weck.html). The efforts of the municipal utilities to support the Kinderbaum campaign are also documented on the website of Das Stadtwerk Regensburg.
