Regensburg celebrates: Cultural Awards Ceremony 2025 in the theater full of splendor!
On October 22, 2025, a brilliant evening was celebrated in the Regensburg Theater: the awarding of the Culture Prize and the Cultural Promotion Prize of the City of Regensburg was on the program. This event has one goal: to properly honor the cultural and artistic achievements that shape the city. All eyes were on the presenter Luise Kinseher, who led the evening with her charm and entertained the audience very well. Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer and cultural officer Wolfgang Dersch presented the prizes and underlined the importance of a vibrant cultural life for Regensburg.
The award ceremony was well attended and the mood in the hall was consistently positive, as regensburger-tagebuch.de reports. The event was a complete success and the feedback from guests was consistently positive. The musical performances were particularly moving: the percussion ensemble “Groove&Beat” and the singer-songwriter “elen in wavs” provided the appropriate musical setting.
Culture Prize Winner 2025
This year, the City of Regensburg's Culture Prize, worth 10,000 euros, went to the photographer Stefan Hanke, who is widely known for his impressive portrait photography. Born in Regensburg in 1961, Hanke also created the moving work “KZ Survived”. The audience was able to listen to a laudatory speech by Ulrike Lorenz, who honored the creative achievements of the award winner.
Cultural funding awards for local talents
The cultural funding awards were also awarded - to three outstanding personalities and organizations from the Regensburg cultural scene. Koloman Wagner, a versatile visual artist, was recognized for his ability to combine art with science. He has already received the U-40 art prize and is highly valued in the art scene. Lena Schabus, who attracted attention as a visual artist with her work on the subject of the Anthropocene, was also honored. The third award went to Campus Regensburg e.V., an institution that has been committed to promoting art and culture as well as social participation since 2008. The laudators, including Antonia Kienberger for Koloman Wagner and Barbara Muhr for Lena Schabus, brought the successes of the award winners to life.
Unfortunately, Lena Schabus was unable to be present in person. She was presented with a certificate and a video message from her was recorded to compensate for her absence.
Design and outlook
The awards were designed by the glass artist Christine Sabel and are therefore not only a recognition of the achievements, but also an artistic highlight for the award winners. The change in format for the evening, which included an interview with the mayor and the cultural officer instead of speeches, proved to be a welcome innovation.
The evening remained unforgettable and was celebrated in different ways as one of the most successful events. As regensburg.de also states, attention to cultural achievements in Regensburg is of great importance, and it is clear that many creative ideas can also be expected here in the future.
