New sports facility in Sallern: Look forward to four places from spring!

After 15 months of construction, SV Sallern can be congratulated on the completion of the new sports facility in Regen. As of today, October 11, 2025, the project has been completed and will open four new sports fields to sports-loving citizens from spring. This welcome news is underlined by the extensive facilities the site offers.

The new sports area houses two of the club's own soccer fields for SV Sallern as well as two additional fields provided by the Regensburg City Sports Department. In order to be able to do sports in the evening, the pitches are of course equipped with floodlights. And the importance of these new facilities goes beyond playing: they are part of a broader project that also serves to protect against flooding in Sallern. Mayor Astrid Freudenstein warmly thanked those responsible at SV Sallern for their patience and cooperation throughout the entire construction phase.

Sporting perspectives and flood protection

The construction of the north sports facility was initiated by the dangerous situation in the Sallern district. In order to integrate flood protection measures, it was necessary to rearrange the existing grass playgrounds. Not only were two new grass playing fields created, but also a functional building equipped with showers, changing rooms and an equipment room for popular sports. This once again underlines the integration of sport and safety in the districts!

During a joint visit to the construction site by the sports committee with Mayor Freudenstein and Mayor Ludwig Artinger, those responsible were enthusiastic about the progress. The construction manager of the city's garden department emphasizes the importance of the new sports areas: "These areas promote exercise and healthy coexistence in the community."

Costs and future

The costs for the new sports facility amount to around 1.4 million euros. During the construction process, SV Sallern used the municipal sports facility on Weinweg as an alternative option. The cooperation and flexibility with which SV Sallern met all the challenges of flood protection was highly praised. The anticipation of the new possibilities is already noticeable in the sports community, and the integration of the clubhouse into the flood dam represents another step in the right direction.

These new sports offerings not only increase leisure enjoyment in Sallern, but the entire district also benefits from these valuable investments in infrastructure. SV Sallern and the city of Regensburg have shown a good knack for creating a solution that meets both sporting and safety needs. Now everyone involved hopes that the sports fields will soon be actively used.
