The memorial shooting of the Frauenberg Soldiers' and Warriors' Comradeship took place on June 13, 2025. This special event commemorated the late club directors Johann Schiessl and Rudolf Kürzinger and attracted around 15 participants to the shooting range of the Brüder von der Au shooting club Central Bavarian reported. In his speech, Mayor Karl Söllner emphasized the importance of this occasion and thanked board member Günter Kolb for his tireless work. He called on all members to actively participate in the club's events.
The sporting results were impressive: Josef Sachsenhauer took first place with a score of 59.4, followed by Bernhard Deml and Georg Eichenseher. This tradition of memorial shooting not only has a sporting character, but above all serves to maintain the memory of the deceased members who have rendered services to the club in the past.
The role of warrior clubs
As historical research shows, warrior associations have been deeply rooted in society since their founding. They promote camaraderie and the memory of fallen soldiers. Originally founded neutrally and independent of party politics, these associations are now primarily involved in the care of war graves and the care of survivors. The beginnings of warrior associations go back to the Coalition Wars, when the first of these associations were founded in Prussia. Its goal is to preserve the memory of military victims - a task that lives on in today's activities of warrior and soldier comrades, such as Wikipedia explained.
A look at the Staudach-Egerndach Soldiers' and Warriors' Comradeship, where Mayor Martina Gaukler recently congratulated the newly elected board, shows how lively these associations continue to be. The board of Staudach-Egerndach includes, among others, Bernhard Koller as chairman and Franz Hegenhauser as deputy chairman. The comradeship currently has 101 members, including 66 Bundeswehr reservists. In recent years they have carried out a variety of activities, including pilgrimages, commemorations and financial support for the German War Graves Commission.
Future events and engagement
Not only looking at history, the Staudach-Egerndach soldiers' and warriors' comradeship also looks optimistically into the future. Future events have already been set: These include the associations' anniversary on April 24th, the Corpus Christi celebration on June 16th and a Thanksgiving festival with flag delegation on October 2nd. There will also be an Advent celebration with the VdK on November 27th. These events demonstrate a shared commitment and keep club life alive, while at the same time building a bridge to tradition, which is of great importance to many members.
These many facets of club life speak for the strength and vigor of the warrior clubs in the region. They are a true expression of Bavarian conviviality and solidarity - a tradition that should be continued in the future so that the memory of those who died for their country is never forgotten.
