Pfaffenhofen recycling center closes: Citizens have to rethink!

There will be some renovation work in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm from August 22nd, which is why the recycling center at Martin-Binder-Ring 4 will be temporarily closed for around two weeks. The temporary closure is necessary to modernize and bring the facility into shape so that citizens can better meet their needs for recyclable materials in the future. However, the exact date for the reopening has not yet been set, as Pfaffenhofen Today reports.

In the meantime, the city is calling on the population to use the other recycling center in Pfaffenhofen, which is located at Joseph-Fraunhofer-Straße 62. This remains open and offers a wide range of acceptance options for recyclable materials, so that everyone has the opportunity to have their waste disposed of immediately. The information remains present in the media that, among other things, old glass, scrap metal and garden waste can be handed in here without being asked to pay, as the city makes clear on its website.

Important information about recycling centers

The detailed drop-off options that both recycling centers offer are particularly interesting for citizens. Various materials can be dropped off at the Pfaffenhofen location:

  • Altglas (nach Farben getrennt)
  • Altmetall/Schrott
  • Altteppiche (max. 2m)
  • Batterien (Trocken- und Autobatterien)
  • Bauschutt, Steingut, Porzellan (max. Schubkarrenbeladung)
  • Elektronikschrott (z.B. Fön, Computer, Fernseher)
  • Gartenabfälle (max. 1 – 3 Kubikmeter)
  • Gelber Sack
  • Leuchtstoffröhren und Energiesparlampen
  • Möbelholz
  • Sperrmüll (z.B. Sofas, Matratzen)
  • Styropor (getrennt nach Formteilen, Verpackungschips)
  • Weißblechdosen

However, it should be noted that the recycling center in Gerolsbach is no longer open on Mondays, which makes it difficult to drop off recyclables at this location. The remaining opening times there are only Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The recycling center in Scheyern, which has been closed since August 11th up to and including August 14th, is currently out of operation due to work on the state road, as also reported.

The city recommends using alternative recycling centers from neighboring communities if necessary. A comprehensive overview is available on the waste management company's (AWP) website, where you can also find the respective collection points for garden waste. So it's obvious: In order for waste disposal to work, citizens should plan in good time and, if necessary, use other options.
