Queer Pfaffenhofen e.V. invites you to the Café of Encounters on January 17th, 2026 to counteract racism and promote diversity.

Café of Encounters: Together for a colorful Pfaffenhofen!

An important space for encounters and conversations is opening up in Pfaffenhofen today: This Café of encounters, organized by Queer Pfaffenhofen e.V., is held as part of the Weeks Against Racism. From 1:00 p.m. everyone is invited to gain new perspectives and exchange experiences in a convivial atmosphere with coffee and cake. Information materials on racism, diversity and moral courage are also available to take home.

The band Schmidtanand will provide musical accompaniment throughout the afternoon. The goal of the café is clear: to set an example for a colorful, solidarity-based and discrimination-free Pfaffenhofen. The premiere of this event last year was a complete success and was enthusiastically received by visitors.

A community for everyone

However, the Café of Encounters is not just a one-off event - it is part of a broader initiative that aims to promote visibility and togetherness in the district. How on Queer Pfaffenhofen described, the organization aims to create spaces for everyone who values and wants to celebrate diversity. Here, events such as film evenings, story cafés and parties are a welcome opportunity to come together against social prejudices and discrimination.

Everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, is welcome to participate. The belief that working together breaks down prejudices and makes society more inclusive runs like a common thread through all of the organization's activities. This philosophy is more important than ever, considering that not only locally but also globally queer people face social isolation and discrimination.

Challenges of the queer community

The fate of queer refugees is another central issue that cannot go unmentioned. As the Bosch Foundation reports, many queer individuals have been coming to Germany since 2021 in the hope of being able to live here safely and without fear. But they often have to prove their identity in asylum procedures - a burden that many heteronormative refugees are spared. Trans people report demeaning procedures and a lack of information about their rights, especially in residential care.

The International Women Space initiative and the Resilient Voices working group are actively committed to the concerns of these people. They offer workshops and create a community that counteracts isolation and provides space for creativity and expression. It is a challenge that affects the social fabric in Pfaffenhofen and therefore it is important to hear and understand these stories and needs.

In the spirit of diversity, the Café of Encounters is not only a place of joy and exchange, but also a message of togetherness in the complex world of queer reality. A call to all citizens: Come by, bring your questions and thoughts and work together to create a discrimination-free environment for everyone.
