Something is happening in Ostallgäu! Today, on January 21, 2026, Johannes Erd is not only celebrating his 30th birthday, but is also preparing for an important day: tomorrow the successor to District Administrator Maria Rita Zinnecker (CSU) will be elected. Johannes Erd, who is running for the Greens, has great ambitions and believes that he has a good chance of getting into the runoff election Allgäu newspaper reported.

Erd, who lives in Nesselwang, is only 29 years old and already has a considerable range of experience. He has been involved as a volunteer mountain rescue officer, works as a municipal energy consultant, is an IT specialist and has studied political science. With this diverse professional experience, he would like to modernize the district office and make it a real partner for the citizens. His goal? Making Ostallgäu more climate-friendly, modern and humane.

The nomination and the goals

At a nomination event that took place on October 8th at the Sailer in Marktoberdorf, Erd was nominated as the Green Party's district administrator candidate with around 90 percent of the vote. The Green Group in the district council emphasizes that it wants to maintain its strength, especially with a view to the next local elections on March 8, 2026, they said Green Ostallgäu.

Erd plans to focus on the energy transition and municipal design options, and mentions the Bürgerenergie Ostallgäu cooperative as an important player in this process. “We want to shape the future together and secure Ostallgäu sustainably for future generations,” said Erd.

A strong team for the district council election

After the nomination, Erd has already held discussions with district council candidates and mayoral candidate Georg Martin. In addition, the district council list will be drawn up with strong candidates at the end of November in order to present a powerful team for the upcoming elections. “There is something to be said,” says Erd, motivated to take up citizens’ concerns and actively shape them.

For Johannes Erd one thing is certain: he is ready to take on the challenge and pull strings to make the Ostallgäu fit for the future. It remains to be seen whether he will succeed in following in Zinnecker's footsteps and winning the trust of voters. One thing is clear: the next few days will be exciting!
