TK Maxx opens XXL branch at the White Tower – a new shopping hotspot!

A new chapter for Nuremberg city center: The well-known fashion retailer TK Maxx announces that it will be opening a large branch in the former C&A building at the White Tower. The off-price giant is moving into one of the best locations in the city and promises an exciting expansion of its retail offering. This opening is planned in advance for the second half of 2026, which is already generating a lot of interest.

The new TK Maxx branch will cover an area of around 3,600 square meters, spread over the ground floor and first floor of the building, which is more than 21,000 square meters in size. With the move to Nuremberg city center, the company is continuing the transformation process at Ludwigsplatz, which is owned by Redevco. It is also interesting that Edeka is already represented in the basement with 2,900 square meters since it announced that it would have taken over an area in 2021.

Urban development in full swing

The opening of the new branch is not only a happy occasion for bargain hunters, but also part of a comprehensive redesign of the city center. The adjacent Breite Gasse will be redesigned and will have more seating and space for restaurants - a measure initiated by the city of Nuremberg. Since the beginning of 2025, the city has been pursuing the goal of upgrading the pedestrian zone. The planned infrastructure measures are intended to significantly increase the value of the stay and the attractiveness of this central location, which will be reflected in the urban development.

These developments are part of the city of Nuremberg's long-term strategy dedicated to integrated urban development. Measures such as the redesign of public spaces should not only strengthen the settlement structure, but also take mobility and environmental concerns into account. Nuremberg's urban development has a clear focus on the quality of life in the old town and plans to further improve this over the next 10 to 20 years.

A look into the future

With direct access to the Weißer Turm subway station, the new TK Maxx branch will be interesting not only for local shoppers, but also for commuters and tourists. The entire development around the C&A building is a good example of how an attractive retail offering combined with urban improvement can sustainably change the cityscape. The jeweler Wempe is also planning to open a location on the former site of the men's fashion chain Eckerle, which will further increase the diversity of the retail sector.

The opening of TK Maxx and the associated urban development measures are a ray of hope in Nuremberg's city center, which will continue to develop in the coming years. The population's interest in these innovations is already noticeable, and one wonders: what other surprises will the city have in store in the near future?
