Construction site chaos on the A6: traffic realignment announced from July!
Things are anything but smooth on the roads in the Middle Franconia region at the moment. From July 2025, extensive construction work will take place on the A6, which will not only burden traffic, but will also continue to test the patience of commuters. Autobahn GmbH has already completed initial measures on four community connecting roads in Kammerstein and Rohr, including the opening of the connecting roads between Kitschendorf and Gaulnhofen, Albersreuth and Dechendorf, Kammerstein and Volkersgau as well as Kammerstein and Oberreichenbach.
The work is preparation for the upcoming traffic reallocation, which is planned for the A6 from the beginning of July, reports Northern Bavaria.
The traffic reallocation is necessary in order to apply the final surface layer over around eleven kilometers. The Nuremberg carriageway will be temporarily transferred to the Heilbronn side. For road users, this means a northern carriageway in a so-called “0+4 traffic routing”, which not only enables work on the motorway, but also remaining work on three overpass structures on the field and forest paths. Once the construction work has been completed, these overpass structures will be reopened to traffic, probably before the end of the summer holidays. The Northern Bavaria branch therefore requests increased caution.
In addition, it remains to be seen how the construction work will affect other sections of the A6; there are already some construction sites here that could also affect traffic, such as verkehrslage.de lists.
More construction sites on the A6
In particular, the bridge work on the Fechingen valley bridge and the Grumbachtal bridge will continue until 2028 and 2026. Drivers should expect additional restrictions during this time. Whether for commuters or tourists, the entire A6 will be a narrow bottleneck in the coming months.
Road users are well advised to regularly inform themselves about the current traffic situation and to adapt their routes if necessary. Current disruptions, from construction site traffic to accidents, can be accessed at any time via ADAC Maps. A clever plan is the be-all and end-all here to best get through the traffic.
