Yoga for Peace: 2200 euros collected for families and aid projects!

On December 21, 2025, the final event of the popular “Yoga for peace” series took place in the Protestant monastery hall, which attracted numerous participants in Neumarkt over two months. Under the motto “Yoga with song and sound,” not only were relaxing yoga classes and meditative sounds offered, but donations totaling 2,200 euros were also collected. This sum will now be used for various charitable purposes, including regional and international projects.

https://www.nn.de/region/neumarkt/yoga Veranstaltung-sammelt-2200-euro-1.14949068reports that the proceeds of the final event amounting to 800 euros will go to the Neumarkt Family Center, which offers local support for families, children and single parents. In addition, donations will be sent to the “Heartkids” association, which supports women's shelters and family contact points in India, as well as to an organization in Gaza that provides winter relief supplies for people in need.

A peaceful gathering

The “Yoga for Peace” event series started on October 31, 2025 and was organized by a large number of yoga teachers as well as the Evangelical Education Center and the Neumarkt Family Center. There couldn't have been a better framework to address internal and external peace. From yoga classes and meditations to mantra singing and sound relaxation - the offerings were diverse and constantly attracted interested people.

The highlight of the series was Ina Willax's lecture on December 12th, in which she highlighted the conscious use of language and its peaceful effect. Co-initiator Petra Meier-Bakkar from the Yogaraum Oberpfalz emphasized the importance of the connection between people and setting signs of peace in society.

Peace network across borders

The roots of the “Yoga for peace” series are anchored in the historic peace festival in Augsburg, which has been celebrated since 1650 and was founded by Gertrud Sohler and Maval Zahed. The focus is on creating a peace network that reaches across different regions. “There is something going on,” says Meier-Bakkar, who is pleased with the success of the series and the lively participation.

The events are always offered on a donation basis and every amount, no matter how large, is a valuable support. “The donations go not only to local projects, but also to those that need international solidarity,” she adds.

The program was enriched by the participation of several organizations, including the Simone Wiese yoga school in Dietkirchen and the Society of Classical Yoga. The musician Reny Forster and numerous yoga teachers such as Iris Seufert and Eva Menges also contributed their skills and commitment.

For everyone who would like to enjoy these inspiring events, the “Yoga for peace” series will continue in 2026. Interested? Registrations are under info@yogaraum-oberpfalz.de possible and details can be found on the websites yogaraum-oberpfalz.de and info@familienzentrum-neumarkt.de.
