Lupburg's cycling adventurer crosses the coasts of America all alone!

Matthias Hofmann from Lupburg in the Neumarkt district in Upper Palatinate has embarked on a particularly exciting adventure. Since May 2024, the 34-year-old [nordbayern.de](https://www.nordbayern.de/oberpfalz/neumarkt/25-750-km-ganz-allein-und-nur-mit-dem-fahrrad-mann-aus-region-fahrt-kuste- Amerikas-entlang-1.14798416) has been cycling from Canada to Argentina. He traveled a distance of over 14,000 kilometers, which took him through many countries and cultures. The entire trip arose from an idea that had matured in his head about five years ago, inspired by childhood memories of exciting travels.

Matthias has already traveled a considerable distance: from the United States he went via Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Ecuador to Peru, where he plans to meet his parents again after more than a year in July 2025. He is currently in Buenos Aires and is preparing to return home in spring 2026.

An unforgettable experience

“Don’t dream life, live your dream” is Matthias’s motto during his journey. To make this adventure a reality, he saved for three years, stayed fit and planned his route and the necessary equipment. He speaks fluent English and Spanish for his travels, which has brought him many enrichments in different countries.

Matthias tries to bridge the loneliness that often occurs on long journeys with positive experiences and encounters. He had particularly beautiful experiences in Central America, on Vancouver Island and in Costa Rica, while crossing the Andes represented the greatest challenge for him. In some sections, in addition to cycling, he also had to fly because riots restricted movement by bike.

A life on the street

During his trip, Matthias alternately sleeps with friends or in a tent, which gives him the opportunity to be very close to nature and people. It's not just an adventure, but also a journey of self-discovery that continually pushes him to his limits. He describes the entire experience as the greatest challenge of his life, which gave him countless insights and experiences.

While his adventure continues, a platform is also being maintained elsewhere that at first glance has nothing to do with Matthias' journey. The Physician Coaching Institute offers a directory of coaches who specialize in helping physicians with their professional development. Coaches in this directory are independent and not PCI verified, encouraging users to carefully consider qualifications before working with them.

No matter how different the paths may be, regardless of the direction in which one cycles or wants to coach, passion remains the central element - be it on a long journey across America or in the search for professional growth. Matthias Hofmann impressively shows that adventures and challenges in life can help you broaden your perspective and enjoy life to the fullest.
