New mayoral parliament: These faces will shape Neu-Ulm 2026!
What is brewing in the local elections in Bavaria? On March 8, 2026 the time has come - citizens in the Neu-Ulm district are called upon to cast their vote. But this year a big change is coming. Many well-known faces from local politics are no longer running, which increases the chance for new, perhaps younger and more female candidates to make a name for themselves in town halls. [Augsburger Allgemeine](https://www.augsburger- Allgemeine.de/illertissen/kommunalwahl-2026-wer-im-kreis-neu-ulm-buergermeister- Werden-will-eine-uebersicht-112866846) provides an overview of the outgoing officials: Wolfgang Höß (Altenstadt), Joachim Eisenkolb (Elchingen), Erich Winkler (Nersingen), Willibold Graf (Oberroth), Mathias Stölzle (Roggenburg), Norbert Poppele (Unterroth) and Wolfgang Fendt (Weißenhorn) are retiring.
The exact election date is March 8, 2026, and all eligible voters, around 138,500, can cast their votes from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is important to note that nominations can be submitted until January 9, 2026, and approved candidates will be announced on February 3, 2026. Neu-Ulm District provides information about the most important features of this election. A total of 70 mandates in the district council must be filled and the term of office is six years, starting on May 1, 2026.

So it is up to the voters how they make their decisions.
