Wild brawl at Munich's Hackerbrücke: Two groups in a bloodlust!
Early on Sunday morning, the Hackerbrücke S-Bahn station in Munich turned into a scene of chaotic scenes when a fight broke out between a total of nine teenagers and men. As BR24 reports, the argument began around 3:45 a.m. when three young people aged 16, 17 and 19, who had gotten off an S1 S-Bahn train heading towards the airport, came into conflict with a group of at least six other young men.
The argument escalated rapidly and resulted in some of those involved falling off the platform and the fight spilling onto the tracks. According to the federal police, there were physical altercations in which a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old deliberately attacked a 35-year-old man. He had previously hit the young people “massively”, which further inflamed the situation. An uninvolved 20-year-old passer-by intervened and alerted the police.
Injuries and arrests
The consequences of the fight were serious. A 22-year-old witness who tried to mediate suffered serious eye injuries and required surgery. In addition, a 25-year-old victim temporarily lost consciousness and was taken to hospital for evaluation. The 35-year-old who was involved in the altercation escaped with lacerations and abrasions to his head and legs and was also taken to hospital. As the Abendzeitung reports, the two young people had to be pulled out of the track area.
The police arrested a total of four people, including the 35-year-old who was charged with assault and the three teenagers who were charged with grievous bodily harm and breach of the peace. The detainees were taken to the federal police station and all four are scheduled to appear before the magistrate on Monday.
Investigations and outlook
The investigation is now directed against everyone involved, as video recordings show that the 35-year-old was also actively involved in the fight. The incident not only raises questions about safety in such a busy place, but also about the propensity for violence among young people. Given what happened at Hackerbrücke S-Bahn station, there is a certain level of concern in the air about future conflicts.
It remains to be hoped for residents and travelers that such incidents can be avoided in the future and that public spaces remain a safe place. The police will continue to be present to take a stand against violence.
