Mühldorf has a new folk festival queen: Simona Kneißl shines in a dirndl!

There was a special reason to celebrate in the Mühldorf town hall on July 17, 2025: the folk festival queen was elected! In bright sunshine and wearing festive dirndls, eight young women competed to win the coveted crown. In the end, 19-year-old product designer Simona Kneißl from Töging was able to prevail. She was extremely happy because the choice was completely unexpected for her. “That was so unexpected, but I’m really happy,” said Kneißl enthusiastically after her coronation.

The decision was made by a competent jury consisting of eight members. These included Mayor Michael Hetzl and head of the cultural department Walter Gruber, as well as last year's winner Julia Huber. This time the jury took significantly longer than in previous years because all applicants presented themselves excellently and expressed their passion for folk festival culture. This election is not just a tradition, but a living expression of community and regional identity.

Looking forward to the folk festival

Simona Kneißl will take on an important role as the new folk festival queen and promote the traditional Mühldorf folk festival, which will take place from August 29th to September 8th, 2025. She will be equipped with five dirndls, which will be provided thanks to the main sponsor Country Line Trachtenmode. Particularly close to her heart is the beer tasting, which is seen in the Haberkasten courtyard as a celebratory start to the folk festival.

Being elected fairground queen is more than just a title; it also brings with it responsibility. Kneißl is looking forward to the tasks ahead and the opportunity to represent the tradition and culture of the Mühldorfer Volksfest. Already during the election, the applicants showed how high their motivation and commitment to the folk festival culture is. This festival is not only a highlight in the calendar, but also an important interplay of customs and joie de vivre.
