Dramatic room fire in Neumarkt St. Veit: Two people injured!
On the night of January 14, 2026, the fire department and rescue service were alerted to a fire in Neumarkt am St. Veit. At 12:45 a.m., residents reported heavy smoke coming from the kitchen of an apartment building on Bahnhofstrasse. The emergency services were able to arrive quickly on site and acted quickly to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring apartments. Nevertheless, two residents, a 61-year-old man and his 72-year-old wife, had to be taken to hospital with suspected mild smoke poisoning, as [innpuls.me](https://innpuls.me/sach Schaden-und-zwei-verleute-nach-zimmerbrand-in-neumarkt-st-veit/) reported.
The resulting material damage amounts to a mid-five-digit euro amount. The affected residents were able to leave the house independently, which was very fortunate because when the fire brigade arrived they discovered massive smoke and a slight fire in the kitchen area. It is still unclear what caused the fire. The Mühldorf am Inn police station has started an investigation and is being supported by the Traunstein criminal police station.
Safe neighborhood or creeping disaster?
As if that wasn't enough, another fire occurred on the same night in Neumarkt-Sankt Veit, which spread to three properties. Here a fire broke out in a garden shed, which quickly spread to a residential building and a play tower. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but initial estimates put the material damage at around 30,000 euros. The garden house and parts of the roof structure of the house were completely destroyed. Other objects such as a tree house and several blinds are also said to have suffered significant damage, as pnp.de reports.
The exact causes of the fire in both incidents are currently unclear. The fire brigade and police are in close contact, while the local emergency services quickly took care of the safety of the residents.
