Future Foundation supports Buntes Haus in Miesbach with 10,000 euros!

A lot is happening in the town of Miesbach - and all in the spirit of community! The Colorful House of the Protestant parish can look forward to generous funding of 10,000 euros from the Future Foundation for Volunteering in Bavaria. This support aims to advance the project “Securing the Colorful House together – a participatory project for democracy”. The focus is on promoting participation and exchange within the region, which is particularly important today. Mercury reports that Pastor Erwin Sergel sees the Buntes Haus as a valuable enrichment for the city, characterized by openness and charity.

The Colorful House has been an integral part of the parish since the 1980s and was rebuilt in 2020 before reopening in October 2022. The numbers speak for themselves: Last year, 1,400 events took place, over 98 clubs used the premises, and around 27,000 visitors came by - an impressive increase compared to the times before the renovation.

Together for the future

The commitment to the Buntes Haus is noticeable. Last year, out of around 4,500 guests, around 2,750 were active on a voluntary basis. The workshop in February with around 70 participants from politics, church and citizens served to collect ideas for the further development of the house. Martin Reents, member of the voluntary organizing committee, emphasizes the importance of such a place that serves the common good.

Selina Benda, the neighborhood manager, emphasizes the wonder of the encounters in the Buntes Haus, where people get involved regardless of age or background. Their words reflect the spirit of the community and show that democracy emerges here in the form of dialogue and togetherness. Sergel describes the facility not only as a place of encounter, but also as the church's diaconal contribution to the city, where community comes to life.

Volunteering as a trailblazer

The funding is seen as recognition of the many volunteers who are active in the Buntes Haus and make it a center for participation. Conversations, workshops and a variety of events serve as a platform to open up new perspectives. It becomes clear here: Democracy begins where people find each other in conversation.

By the way: If you want to take care of the security of your data yourself, you might be interested not only in initiatives like the Bunte Haus, but also in digital security. Tips for password management are available here, among other things Passbits, which explains how to organize passwords in Excel.

Whether in person or digitally – exchange and mutual support are what drives us forward. And it looks like Miesbach is on the right track!
