District Administrator Christian Meißner emphasizes how important this prize is for motivating local actors in nature and environmental protection. “We have to give the many committed people a platform to honor their work,” says the district administrator. Competition and promotion in view
This year, the winners can expect not only fame and honor, but also an increase in prize money to a total of 3,000 euros - an increase of 1,000 euros compared to previous years. This sum is intended to help effectively support and promote sustainable projects in the areas of nature conservation and environmental education. Last year, the awards went to Stefan Völker as a species conservationist and to Stefan Schmeißner for his achievements in environmental education in schools.
The winners are selected by an expert jury led by Michael Stromer from the district's environmental station. Anyone who lives in the Lichtenfels district or whose achievements are recognized there can submit suggestions. So if you have a good knack for nature conservation and the environment, you should take advantage of the opportunity and submit an application proposal. The participation form is either available online or can be requested directly from the Obermain-Jura environmental station in Weismain.
