Three new fruit arborists in the Lichtenfels district: training starts!

In a small but nice ceremony on November 28, 2025, three participants from the Lichtenfels district successfully passed their exam to become certified fruit tree care workers. The graduates –Eva Dinkelfrom Lichtenfels,Jochen Bechmannfrom Bad Staffelstein andJürgen Klügleinfrom Schönbrunn – can now proudly act as experts in the care of fruit trees. This further training is particularly in demand, as orchard trees are playing an increasingly important role in our landscape and are being promoted through various measures.

The graduates took part in extensive training modules run by the district association for horticulture and land conservation for a whole year. The first course in the Lichtenfels district, led byDistrict consultant Michael StromerandOrchard consultant Bianca Faber, has a lot of practical content in its luggage. Because not only theoretical knowledge is required, practical work on trees is also part of it the fruit tree care school emphasized. The participants learn everything about tree pruning, growing healthy crowns and caring for fruit and nut trees.

Course offerings for the future

The demand for qualified fruit tree carers is constantly increasing, and in order to meet this, another training offer will start next year. Basic courses as well as courses with a final certificate are planned, which will take place at both Upper Franconia and district level. Those interested can register now. The registration deadline for the Lichtenfels courses is December 31, 2025, while the Upper Franconian course opens until December 11, 2025. Further information is available on the website landespflege-lichtenfels.de available.

During the training, the organizers attach great importance to a mindful and non-discriminatory working atmosphere. Participants have the opportunity to work in groups and also organize their own accommodation during the course of the training. Providing lunch, tea, coffee and snacks during the courses ensures that your stomach feels full.

The comprehensive program includes, among other things, the topics of building care and pruning so that future fruit arborists acquire the necessary know-how for long-lasting and healthy trees. The practical work begins with the different tree stages in order to develop a good knack for proper care.
