Nevertheless, there are voices like those of Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge who would like Wirtz to be transferred and praise him as the best German footballer of the moment.
Wirtz's contract with Bayer Leverkusen runs until 2027, which is why Bayern would have to pay a transfer fee of over 100 million euros if they want to get serious. For a long time there was great hope that Wirtz could play alongside Jamal Musiala in Munich's offensive, but at the moment this wish remains up in the air. If Wirtz first has to gain a foothold, this could be an advantage for Bayern and the competition elsewhere.

In contrast, Bayern has a promising player from their own youth in Karl. Signed for free from the club's academy, he shows that investment in youth development can pay off, while a failed Wirtz transfer may have saved the club money on other players such as Luis Díaz (€63m from Liverpool).
