Landsberg celebrates diversity: CSD on August 2nd with a colorful festival!

On August 2, 2025, Landsberg am Lech will be the venue for the third Christopher Street Day (CSD), which has the motto “Diversity needs (T*) spaces”. Organized by VIDA e.V. and several local groups, the colorful hustle and bustle will start at 2 p.m. from the parking lot at the Papierfleck and lead through the city center to the Lech Atelier, where a final rally and a festival await. Around 500 participants are expected to celebrate and advocate for the visibility of queer people.

“In times of increasing anti-queer crimes, it is essential to create safe spaces,” emphasizes the organizer. In fact, the Federal Criminal Police Office has recorded an alarming increase in brutal incidents against the LGBTQ+ community in recent years. Since 2010, the number of crimes in this area has been increasing and has almost doubled; In 2024 alone, 2,108 such acts were recorded. According to ZDF, various cities report incidents ranging from theft to physical attacks, and the perpetrators are often on the right-wing spectrum. In Landsberg, too, the safety of the participants is the top priority, and the organizers are in close communication with the city and the police about this in order to ensure respectful cooperation.

A diverse program for everyone

The festival will be under the venerable scepter of drag queen Tatjana Tanzt TNT and offers a musical line-up that includes Skyline Green, Tintenschiff, Beatbetrieb, Waseem & Kokonelle and CECI. The culmination will take place around 4:00 p.m., followed by the VielSaitig Festival, which begins at 4:30 p.m. There is something for every age group here: in addition to musical performances, there is a games corner, face painting, workshops and a fashion show that reflects the diversity of the community.

In addition, there is the “Tell Me Your Story” format in which personal stories can be told and exchanged. Those responsible and an awareness team will ensure that everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or identity, can celebrate in a respectful setting. Participation is free, but tickets for the evening event can be purchased at the box office or through discounted advance sales.

A call for solidarity

The CSD in Landsberg is not just a celebration, but also a sign of solidarity and the need to stand up for the rights of LGBTQ+ people. Given the alarming increase in anti-queer crimes, it is more important than ever to show up together and stand up for diversity. Similar events have taken place under heavy police protection in many German cities, highlighting the urgency of the social challenges facing the community.

Cohesion is particularly important in these difficult times. Values such as respect and tolerance must always be upheld, and the CSD in Landsberg am Lech will offer a great opportunity to experience and live exactly that. All people are warmly invited, regardless of their sexual orientation or identity, because “diversity needs (T*)spaces” - and these spaces should be celebrated!
