Safety work completed: Nordhalben Youth Home free from danger!

The worries about the youth home's outbuilding in Nordhalben can finally be put to rest. As the North Bavarian Press reported that the risk of collapse was successfully eliminated after the necessary securing work was completed. The Adlerhaus company was responsible for these measures, acting according to the instructions of a structural engineer.

The church caretaker Markus Pötzl confirmed that the security measures had been successfully completed and announced that a temporary scaffolding would be dismantled on Tuesday evening as part of an exercise by the Technical Relief Agency (THW). This not only gives the youth home a safe area, but also the opportunity to soon return to its original purpose - supporting and accompanying young people.

Role of the youth home

The Nordhalben youth home plays a central role in youth welfare in the region. According to the Statista Child and youth welfare services in Germany are anchored in the Eighth Social Code with the aim of promoting and protecting young people and reducing inequalities. This task includes not only childcare and youth work, but also advice and support services for families.

In 2023, around 14.3 million young people received assistance, including young adults. In recent years there has been a continuous increase in the number of procedures used by youth welfare offices to assess child welfare risks. Of the approximately 212,000 procedures, a risk was identified in around 63,700 cases, a high that should raise alarm.

The importance of support

Given these numbers, it becomes clear how important facilities like the youth home in Nordhalben are. With around 10,700 youth welfare facilities, mostly in North Rhine-Westphalia, youth welfare represents a light but strong network for the protection and support of young people. The financial resources for youth welfare are also significant, with expenditure of around 71.9 billion euros for 2023.

The youth home not only offers protection, but also a valuable contact point and a home for many young people. Re-securing the outbuilding will ensure this important work can continue. Information about the facility is also available on the website Nordhalben parish.
