New fan representative Reitzner: We are starting an exciting era!
ESV Kaufbeuren is facing an exciting change. Matthias Reitzner, the club's dedicated fan representative, describes the current situation as the “beginning of a new era”. In a recent interview, he spoke about personal contact with other fan representatives, especially those from the rivalry with Landshut, and emphasized the importance of exchange in the ice hockey scene. An annual meeting in Crimmitschau, which league boss Rene Rudorisch also took part in, served not only for networking, but also for the discussion of central topics such as ticket capacity for away fans, which could lead to a corresponding ticket booking app in the coming season. The past few months have been quiet for Reitzner and the ESVK. He particularly praises the medical team's quick response to medical emergencies, which is of great importance in a sport like ice hockey. He is also looking forward to the club's 80th anniversary in 2026, for which some ideas are already being developed. The team is undergoing changes under coach Patrick Reimer that Reitzner describes as promising. Together with Bernhard Ebner, Reimer has signed a player who will bring a breath of fresh air to the team. “A positive team atmosphere is crucial,” emphasizes Reitzner.
The role of fan representatives
The fan representatives of the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB) are not only responsible for organizing events surrounding international matches and tournaments, but also for communication between fans and the DEB. As stated on the official website of the DEB, the fan representatives take care of maintaining contacts with the supporters and support them in their own activities. The role can therefore be translated as an indispensable part of fan culture.
In the DEL2, fan representatives like Reitzner and many others, including Dominik Wimmer-Freitag from EV Landshut and the fan representatives of the Blue Devils Weiden, are active to represent the interests of the fans and promote a positive atmosphere both in and outside the stadium. According to DEL2, these volunteers work closely together to create a lively and engaging ice hockey culture.
In this sense, Matthias Reitzner not only wants the position of fan representative to be heard more, but also for strong cooperation within the league. “Together we can still achieve a lot,” he says, summing up his optimistic attitude.
