Kaufbeuren Advent: 11,788 euros for bright children's eyes!

The smell of gingerbread and festive splendor was in the air on December 12th when the 30th “Kaufbeurer Advent” charity concert took place at the Allgäu car dealership. A complete success, as the proceeds from this heartwarming event amounted to an impressive 11,788 euros. The entire amount will be used for the city of Kaufbeuren's “Christmas grant... so that children's eyes light up” campaign, which aims to bring joy to families in need. Mayor Stefan Bosse and Michael Marx, the deputy head of the Labor and Social Affairs Department, thanked the participants and donors and emphasized the importance of such actions.

The total amount is made up of various donations: 1,288 euros were raised by the visitors, which were presented by Brigitte Dainku. The Allgäu car dealership also contributed 3,000 euros, while the Heinz and Christine Kreuter Foundation provided 5,000 euros. VR-Bank, represented by Christoph Huber, also made a valuable contribution of 2,500 euros. These generous donations enable children from financially disadvantaged families to receive an 80 euro voucher to choose a Christmas present in selected stores.

Musical accompaniment for a good cause

The musical direction of the concert was in the capable hands of Horst Spindler, who ensured that the guests experienced an unforgettable evening. The interplay of music and heart proved to be the perfect recipe to bring people together and inspire a sense of community. This was also evident in the second charity event, which is supported by Sparkasse Allgäu, where 4,000 euros were donated for another Christmas concert in the parish church of St. Martin. Under the motto “French Christmas – Noëls and Chansons” the French choir Groupe Vocal Arpège de Bordeaux will perform with conductor Jacques Charpentier and organist Stefan Mohr. The donation was handed over by Birgit Pfeifer, head of corporate development at Sparkasse Allgäu.

In addition to the local initiatives, the donation landscape in Germany is seeing a small downward trend overall: According to the German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI), the donation volume for 2024 fell to 12.5 billion euros, down 2.1 percent compared to the previous year. These figures show how important local donations like those of the “Kaufbeurener Advent” are in order to strengthen social cohesion and help people in need - especially in difficult economic times.

The positive response to the benefit concert shows how strongly the community in Kaufbeuren sticks together. Given the current challenges, it is all the more important that such initiatives remain popular. Every commitment counts to put smiles on the faces of the youngest and create unforgettable moments in the heart of the city.
