Haßfurt celebrates: 20,000 visitors at the magnificent Day of the Franconians”!

What a celebration! Around 20,000 visitors flocked to Haßfurt on Sunday, July 6th, to properly celebrate this year's “Day of the Franconians”. The impressive event took place in the picturesque old town and on the banks of the Main and offered a varied program for young and old. More than 200 stands from clubs, institutions and companies invited people to stroll and marvel.

The festive service in the knight's chapel was a celebratory start before an approximately 200 meter long procession, led by the fanfare and marching band from Hofheim, marched through the streets. Several guests of honor provided prominent support, including Prime Minister Markus Söder, State Parliament President Ilse Aigner and Federal Minister Dorothee Bär. In his humorous speech, Söder described Haßfurt as the “capital of all of Bavaria”, while District Council President Stefan Funk praised the place as the “capital of Franconia”. The latter highlighted the potential of the Haßberge district and compared the airfield there with Cape Canaveral.

Entertainment and enjoyment for everyone

Visitors were offered an entertaining program on five stages. From Franconian dialect music, presented by the band Hülse & Chuck, to traditional dances performed by a Franconian folk dance group from Kürnach, there was something for every taste. The market square became the scene of a communal singing of the Franconian Song, and many visitors nostalgically remembered the celebrations for the city's 750th anniversary in 1985.

The area on the Main was also particularly appealing, where 90 exhibitors presented flowers, plants, garden accessories and handicrafts. Here you could enjoy the Franconian way of life to the fullest. A look at the tables revealed not only culinary delicacies, but also the cultural diversity of the region, which was presented in the run-up to the festival during the Lower Franconian Culture Days from June 27th to July 5th, 2025.

Cultural days full of diversity

The Lower Franconian Culture Days offered an extensive program that ranged from exhibitions to cooking courses and musical performances. A special highlight was the exhibition “Around the Castle” in the Lower Franconia district. There were also various events, such as the crime fiction reading with Helmut Vorndran and lectures on Franconian dialect culture.

The festival weekend from July 4th to 6th started with the “Long Night in Haßfurt”, during which the city center was transformed into a promenade and invited people to party until midnight. The Franconian garden festival on the following Saturday also delighted visitors with around 90 exhibitors and all sorts of regional specialties.

Discover the beauty of Franconia

Franconia not only has a lot to offer culturally, but also invites lovers of diversity and those seeking relaxation to experience the scenic beauty on motorcycle tours. Attractive routes through the rolling hills are ideal for exploring the region and its historic cities. Motorcycle tours in Franconia not only offer impressive panoramic views, but also the opportunity to enjoy Franconian cuisine in the region and take part in local events Frankentourismus.

Of course, travel options were also prepared for all those who wanted to travel to Haßfurt during the “Day of the Franconians”. On this special day, the city center was closed to traffic, but free parking spaces in Haßfurt and Knetzgau as well as shuttle buses to the festival site ensured smooth transport to the celebrations.

The event made it clear how important such cultural highlights are for the community and how they help to present the Haßberge region in a radiant light. Even though “Day of the Franconians” is over, the anticipation for the next events is already palpable.
