In the Bavarian city of Fürth there is exciting news for everyone who supports democracy, diversity and social cohesion. Starting next year, local initiatives, associations and institutions can once again apply for funding as part of the federal program “Living Democracy!” place. This third funding phase, which runs from 2025 to 2032, was announced on December 26, 2025 and heralds a time for creative and innovative projects in the region. The Portal for Democracy Fürth reports that funds can now be applied for, with the deadline for submitting applications being January 16, 2026.
What can we expect? The funded projects are to be implemented between February 15 and November 15, 2026 and should, above all, pursue innovative approaches. These can be workshops, educational offers, cultural events or campaigns to promote participation and tolerance. Initiatives that respond to current social challenges are particularly desired.

The Fürth City Youth Association is an important cooperation partner in this program and has set up a coordination and specialist office to support the application process. [NN].
With up to 100 percent of the project expenditure, financial support can make a decisive contribution to strengthening the democratic culture in Fürth. Given current social developments and a worrying increase in extremism and hatred, the need for such funding is more important than ever. The Federal Government has presented a new strategy that not only focuses on political education and democracy promotion, but also includes preventative measures to combat group-related misanthropy.
The tasks for future projects are clear: promote vibrant democracy, prevent extremism and strengthen social cohesion. Projects that take action here are not only welcome, but also urgently needed in times of increasing pressure on our democratic values.

The focus is on the early detection and prevention of radicalization as well as the promotion of a diverse, active society.
