On Sunday afternoon the eagerly awaited Frankenderby between 1. FC Nürnberg and SpVgg Greuther Fürth took place in the Nuremberg Stadium. However, there was little goal threat in the first half. Although Fürth had more possession of the ball and limited Nuremberg's chances, the excitement on the pitch was palpable without the ball wanting to go into the net. Nuremberg's goalkeeper Jan Reichert had to admit twice about the safety of his front men, but overall it could be said that the guests from Fürth came into the game better [ South Germans ].

A thrilling goal festival

After tea break the picture changed suddenly. In the 48th minute, Luka Lochoshvili scored for Nuremberg and gave his team a 1-0 lead. But Fürth's answer didn't take long to arrive. Aaron Keller prevailed in the duel and fed Felix Klaus, who equalized in the 53rd minute to make it 1-1 [ BR24 ].

Klaus' goal sparked a real scoring frenzy: just four minutes later, Mohamed Ali Zoma increased the score to 2-1 for the hosts, before Aaron Keller hit the mark again and equalized the score to 2-2 in the 61st minute. A total of four goals were scored within 13 minutes – a true spectacle [ South Germans ].

A point that helps both teams?

In the end it was a 2-2 draw, which only helped both teams to a limited extent. Both 1. FCN and Fürth are fighting against mediocrity and the threat of relegation to the third division. Before the game, the history of the derby as well as statistics and photos were presented. The Nuremberg author Harald Kaiser read from his book about the history of the derby, which gave the emotional backdrop a little more weight [ BR24 ].

After the game, coach Heiko Vogel was pleased with his team's performance and their comeback in the game. Because after quickly dropping a deficit, it is also a question of self-confidence to get the boys on the right path. Both teams can live with the draw, but they definitely need to step up their game in the coming games to avoid slipping into the relegation zone [ South Germans ].
