First Christmas tree auction in Fürstenfeldbruck: A success for those in need!
On December 23, 2025, a premiere took place at the Fürstenfeldbruck Christmas market: Christmas trees were auctioned for the first time! This campaign, organized by Mayor Christian Götz, was not only intended to spread a festive mood, but also to serve a charitable purpose. The proceeds from the auction will benefit the city's “Citizens in Need” fund, which helps citizens who are in need through no fault of their own. A great example of local charity at Christmas time!
The auction took place on the last day of the Christmas market and all ten trees made available found new owners. Martin Riedel from Türkenfeld provided the trees and it was an adventure to auction them off. Even though participation got off to a rather hesitant start, ultimately every tree was able to find a new place. Gerhard Schütterlin from Puchheim bought a tree at auction even though his living room was already festively decorated. Kornelia and Andreas Binder from Längenmoos secured the small wishing tree, which was able to fulfill more than 500 wishes at the market.
Tradition and community spirit
The Christmas season has been considered a stronghold of charity since the 19th century and this tradition is still alive today. In the festively decorated streets, ingenuity is shown to help those in need. Local commitments such as the auction prove that the people of Fürstenfeldbruck not only share joy and happiness, but are also willing to stop and help others. Christmas markets, like those found in many places, attract visitors to enjoy the festive atmosphere - whether here in Bavaria or elsewhere, as you can also read in the international reports on ChristmasMarketsGermany.
There are many opportunities to volunteer, especially during Advent. For example, you can paint or do crafts for lonely people in care facilities or even help directly on site, as many volunteers do who help homeless people and people in need. The commitment before and during the holidays shows how important cohesion and support is in a community setting - actions such as the Christmas tree auction are just another expression of this appreciation.
Outlook for next year
Mayor Götz is already planning a repeat of the Christmas tree auction next year and would like to promote the event better. The aim is to inspire and move as many people as possible to take part in this beautiful tradition and at the same time do good. The musical highlight of the evening, the performance of the Brucker Perchten & Rauhnachtsgsindel, rounded off the festive evening and provided additional entertainment while the visitors auctioned off their new Christmas trees.
The Christmas markets in Germany, as the article on ChristmasMarketsGermany highlights, are unique and incomparable. The combination of traditional stalls and delicious treats creates an atmosphere that attracts visitors from all over the world. The Fürstenfeldbruck Christmas campaign shows that great impact can also be achieved in local communities if you open your hearts and are prepared to work for others.
Whether it's buying a Christmas tree or supporting fellow citizens in need: the Christmas season remains an important occasion to demonstrate charity and to experience a contemplative and joyful time together.
