Discover the dazzling world of dragonflies in the Notzinger Moos!

An exciting event will take place in the picturesque Notzinger Moos on Sunday, July 27, 2025, which will appeal to nature lovers and amateur ornithologists alike. The Erding local group of BUND Nature Conservation invites you toDragonfly searcha. Under the direction of Sascha Alexander, the participants will be sent on a three-hour journey of discovery through the fascinating living environment of these flying acrobats from 10:00 a.m. The meeting point is the parking lot at Notzinger Weiher.

The event is aimed at anyone interested in learning more about the colorful world of dragonflies. “Bring binoculars and a lot of patience,” recommends Sascha Alexander, who will accompany the group with his knowledge of the dazzling Odonata. Numerous dragonfly species live in the Notzinger Moos, which not only impress with their beauty, but are also considered bioindicators of the health of a habitat. Their presence indicates a high structural diversity of the environment, which fascinates nature lovers and scientists alike.

Dragonflies in the spotlight

Did you know that dragonflies can reach speeds of up to 50 km/h and even reach heights of 2,000 meters above sea level? These flying acrobats control their wings independently and can even do somersaults or fly backwards. These extraordinary abilities make them a true spectacle of nature. In addition, dragonflies, which are harmless to humans, are true habitat specialists: their presence indicates the presence of special features such as uncontained springs and moorland waters.

According to BUND Nature Conservation, participants can actively contribute to species protection themselves. Dragonfly fans can document their observations via an online portal that was created in collaboration with the Bavarian State Office for the Environment. “This helps protect these fascinating insects,” explains a spokesman for BUND Nature Conservation.

Weather and registration

An important note for interested participants: The event will be canceled if it rains. If you are unsure about the weather conditions, you can inquire on 08122 22878424. Registrations can be made either by phone on 08122 13801 (AB) or by email bund.erding@bund.net possible. The Erding local group welcomes donations to support future campaigns and projects.

The Notzinger Moos is not only a beautiful place to discover the diversity of flora and fauna, but also a living example of the natural wealth that Bavaria has to offer. Take this opportunity to learn more about the graceful dragonflies and spend a relaxing day in nature. BUND Nature Conservation and the Erding local group are looking forward to numerous participants who want to enrich the summer with an exciting journey of discovery in the Notzinger Moos.
