PWG Donau-Ries presents an impressive list of candidates for 2026!
On November 13, 2025, the time had come: The nomination meeting of the Party-Free Voters' Community (PWG) Donau-Ries took place, opened by the mayors David Wittner from Nördlingen and Jürgen Sorré from Donauwörth. The list of candidates for the upcoming district council election in 2026 was drawn up here, which everyone present is eagerly awaiting.
The meeting attracted numerous members and supporters who could sense the passion and future orientation of the PWG. In his speech, David Wittner not only talked about thrift, foresight and reason - the cornerstones of a sound financial policy. He also praised District Administrator Stefan Rößle for his 24 years of cooperation and emphasized that the district is well positioned.
List of candidates drawn up
The list of candidates is a proud work and shows a broad representation from all areas of the district. Interestingly, for the first time there are two mayors at the top of the PWG list. In his remarks, Jürgen Sorré referred to the district's “lucky hit” campaign, which underlines the positive current climate and the PWG's future prospects. Here is a look at the first ten candidates:
| position | name |
|---|---|
| 1. | David Wittner (Nördlingen) |
| 2. | Jürgen Sorré (Donauwörth) |
| 3. | Barbara Wunder (Nördlingen) |
| 4. | Erwin Seiler (Möttingen-Appetshofen) |
| 5. | Karl Rehm (Rain am Lech) |
| 6. | Veit Meggle (Donauwörth) |
| 7. | Anita Ferber (Monheim) |
| 8. | Martin Scharr (Kaisheim) |
| 9. | Gudrun Gebert-Löfflad (Nördlingen-Löpsingen) |
| 10. | Georg Stoller (Wallerstein) |
In total, the list includes 60 candidates – an impressive contingent that illustrates the broad base and diversity of the PWG. With its nomination meeting, the PWG shows that it is well prepared for the upcoming elections and is looking forward to the challenges that 2026 will bring.
The district council elections in 2026 will be exciting in the context of international elections, for example in countries such as Bénin, Uganda and Brazil. Even if the political conditions there are not always stable, the PWG in Donau-Ries is self-confident and sees itself well prepared, as the current [Augsburger Allgemeine](https://www.augsburger- Allgemeine.de/noerdlingen/pwg-wandelen-fuer-den-landkreis-donau-ries-vorstellen-liste-fuer-kreistagswahl-2026-beschlossen-112784150) reports.
It remains exciting for the local citizens to see whether the PWG's optimism will become tangible and who will ultimately make the leap into the district council mandate. The anticipation for the coming elections is palpable and we can only hope that the PWG stays on its good course.
